- Vault contents are encrypted client-side; emergency access uses Shamir's Secret Sharing, splitting the key among trusted contacts so no single person (including Eternal Vault) can open the vault alone.
- Automated life check-ins ("heartbeats") detect prolonged inactivity — via manual check-ins, API, or connected fitness apps like Google Fit — and only then begin the verified emergency-access process, with safeguards and practice runs to prevent false alarms.
- Trusted contacts are identity-verified and can be given different access levels.
- Documents can be stored in Eternal Vault or connected to the user's own storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, Box).
