Onboarding
Welcome to Eternal Vault! After registering your account, you’ll be guided through our onboarding flow to set up your secure workspace.
Your Master Passphrase
During onboarding, you will be prompted with your Master Passphrase. This passphrase is the foundation of your security in Eternal Vault. It is used to encrypt and decrypt all your sensitive data, ensuring that only you (and those you authorize) can ever access your information.

Why is the Master Passphrase Important?
- End-to-end encryption: Your passphrase is never sent to our servers. All encryption and decryption happens on your device.
- Zero-knowledge: Eternal Vault cannot access or recover your passphrase. Only you know it.
- Irrecoverable: If you lose your master passphrase, we cannot help you recover it. This is by design, to maximize your privacy and security.
Best Practices for Storing Your Passphrase
- Save it in a trusted password manager (recommended).
- Download and securely store the backup when prompted during onboarding.
- Print it out and keep it in a safe place (optional, for extra redundancy).
- Never share your passphrase with anyone you do not fully trust.
Important!
Treat your master passphrase like the keys to a vault. If you lose it, you lose access to everything inside.
After you have saved your master passphrase, your onboarding will be completed and you will be redirected to the home page, where you can start adding documents and contacts.
